Hi! Yesterday was Halloween and it’s already time for my October income report. The report below is for my beauty blog Cruelty Free Kitty.
This month, I got back into the habit of posting semi-regularly — after a little summer break — but I’ve mostly been working on Rosevibe and neglecting my beauty blog a little bit. Granted, I’ve never been great at posting regularly, but this is to show you that taking a break from your blog or not posting regularly shouldn’t be disastrous.
My total for October was $1,784.43 in USD. With the current exchange rate, that’s $2,312 in Canadian Dollars (yay for getting paid in American currency while the Canadian Dollar’s low).

I got lucky and my post on companies that test on animals went a bit viral on Facebook, bringing me extra traffic. That’s the boost and gradual decline you see at the end of the month.
My traffic has reached a plateau for the last few months now, which should prompt me to start working on attracting more visitors. I’ve been slacking, and my traffic reflects that. I need to write new articles and use social media more, especially Pinterest.
I am not happy with my current ad monetization. The video ads are making my site slow to load, which really bothers me. Next month, I’m trying to get rid of all the video ads in favor of static ones. This will bring my eCPM down, so I’ll see if it’s worth it. If it knocks my ad revenue down by 50%, I’ll be looking elsewhere.
Goals For Next Month
1. Rebranding my beauty blog.
This is a big project, but I’m really excited! That site currently doesn’t make the best impression, and doesn’t reflect the work I’ve put into it. It’s the first theme I ever made, before I even knew what I was doing. I tweaked and modified it constantly until I was semi-satisfied with it. It has the vibe of what it started out as: a small, personal blog. Now that it’s grown, I’d like to give it a more polished appearance.
I already made a new theme for it (that I initially meant to use for another site) and all that’s missing is a header and logo. I’m excited about the new theme, but the whole process of changing themes and creating new graphics isn’t going to be quick and easy. I’m still new at this! Creating a header is seriously scaring me right now. Am I even going to pull it off?!
Apart from the new appearance, I’d like a more intuitive navigation. I’m also going to try to come up with a more user-friendly layout and options for new readers.
In addition to this, I’d like to start posting regularly, about 2-3 times a week.
Once this is all done, I’ll focus on growing my audience.
1. Working on my second blog.
Months ago, I started a second blog that’s currently making about $200 a month. I may share this blog here once it’s finished and amazing, but right now it needs a lot of work. This is another thing I’ll work on in November.
